What is a social security agreement?

The number of people who leave Japan to work or live abroad in the future is increasing year by year.
The system was created for these people.

Specifically, they do the following.

  • Preventing the double burden of insurance premiums (adjustment between the two countries)
  • Totalisation of pension scheme membership periods to ensure pension entitlement

Are Germany and the Czech Republic included?

Take a look at the overview of pension schemes in the major countries in the Social Security Agreement.
This shows that Germany and the Czech Republic are also included!
Countries not listed are not covered, so it’s good to consider them as one of the factors to consider when moving to a new country!
